Yes, I’m back! If you’ve been wondering where I disappeared to, let me fill you in on what led me away these past two months from my website and social medias.
Since February, I have been working hard on a concept for a novel that really excites me. I dived headfirst into the realm of a magical place I can’t wait to share with you. In doing so, I decided to take a hiatus from social media and my website to fully immerse myself in a Work-In-Progress that has been stirring within me for quite some time.
The decision to step away from the constant notifications, and the need to post videos of me NOT writing 😉 wasn’t an easy one, but it was necessary. I needed the quietude to explore the depths of my imagination, to unearth my new characters that have really brought me joy in creating. I would LOVE to tell you about them, but I honestly don’t want any flames burning out in the process. So, I’ll leave you with a hint at the end.
During this time, I started researching, losing myself in a world that fueled my curiosity. I plotted, I planned, I scribbled down ideas furiously, and I hoped that what I want to accomplish in this book would all slowly fall into place.
And then came the moment when I finally took the plunge (I honestly feel like I’m giving hints here already with my word choice *wink wink*) – I began to write. Word by word, sentence by sentence, I found myself transported to a world of my own creation, where anything was possible, and imagination became my friend.
I’m thrilled to share that I’ve surpassed the 16,000-word mark. Sixteen thousand words may not seem like much in the grand scheme of things, but to me, each word is a win–a stride in the right direction.
But perhaps my most favorite part of this new book process has been falling in love with the characters I’m creating. They’re more than just figments of my imagination; they’re living, breathing beings with hopes, dreams, fears, and flaws. They’ve taken on a life of their own, surprising me at every turn with their actions and decisions. Some, I want to protect at all costs. Some, I don’t. Some…I can’t.
As I reacquaint myself with all things social media, just know that my writing comes first–it’s how I communicate my very best with the people who read my work–and I cannot wait for you all to see what I’ve cooked up.
*Hint Time: My main character’s name is a color* – any guesses?
